What is water-activated paper tape?

Water-activated tape is a paper-based packaging tape that forms a permanent bond with cardboard when activated with water.

What is your water-activated tape made from?

Our tape is made from FSC-certified kraft paper, water-activated non-toxic starch adhesive, and non-toxic inks.

Is water-activated tape eco-friendly?

Yes. Water-activated tape is paper-based, recyclable, and an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic packaging tape; and thus can be
recycled together with cardboard boxes without needing to be removed first.

What is the reinforced paper type in your water-activated paper tape?

Reinforced water-activated tape is a heavy-duty version of gummed paper tape that contains cross-weaved fiberglass reinforcement within
the paper. It is designed for heavier cartons, export shipments, and high-security packaging.

Is Reinforced Water-Activated Tape stronger than Standard Water-Activated Tape?

Yes. Reinforced tape offers significantly higher tensile strength, tear resistance, and carton security compared to standard water-activated tape.

Which tape should I choose: Standard or Reinforced?

Choose Standard Water-Activated Tape for most ecommerce orders, apparel shipments, and general packaging.

Choose Reinforced Water-Activated Tape for heavy cartons, bulk shipments, export orders, warehouse distribution, or high-value products.

Is Reinforced Water-Activated Tape eco-friendly?

Reinforced tape uses a paper backing and adhesive, but the embedded fiberglass strands may reduce compostability compared to standard
water-activated tape.

Does Reinforced Water-Activated Tape cost more?

Yes. Reinforced tape typically costs more than standard water-activated tape due to the additional reinforcement material and increased strength.

Is water-activated tape tamper-evident?

Yes. Once applied, the tape becomes difficult to remove without damaging the carton surface, making tampering clearly visible.

Can the tape be used on recycled cardboard boxes?

Yes. Water-activated tape works well on both virgin and recycled cardboard cartons.

Is the tape waterproof?

No. Water-activated tape is designed for dry shipping environments and is not intended for prolonged exposure to water.

What temperatures can the tape withstand?

The tape performs well under normal warehouse, storage, and shipping conditions. Extreme moisture exposure should be avoided.

How much weight can the tape hold?

When correctly applied, water-activated tape can securely seal heavy cartons and shipping boxes. Performance depends on box quality and application method.

Does water-activated tape require water to work?

Yes. Water must be applied to the adhesive side before use to activate the bonding properties.

Do I need a dispenser?

No. Small quantities can be applied manually using a sponge or damp cloth.

For higher volumes, we recommend a water-activated tape dispenser for faster and more consistent application.

Can I use water-activated tape without a machine?

Yes. Small orders and occasional use can be applied manually with water.

How long does the adhesive take to bond?

The tape begins bonding immediately after application and reaches full strength as it dries.

Does the tape stick to plastic mailers?

No. Water-activated tape is designed primarily for corrugated cardboard and paper packaging.

What tape sizes are available?

Standard widths include:

Roll lengths may vary depending on the selected product option.

Can I print my logo on water-activated tape?

Yes. Custom logo printing, patterns, slogans, and branded artwork can be printed directly onto the tape.

Can I print multiple colours?

Yes. Full-colour CMYK printing is available.

Can I print a repeating pattern?

Yes. Continuous logo patterns and repeating artwork designs are commonly used on water-activated tape.

Can I print a coloured background?

Yes. Full-colour background printing is available on white tape options.

Will there be a visible line or gap where the design repeats every 35 cm?

No. No matter your artwork, the repeat point will blend smoothly into the next section. There will not be a visible white line, gap, or break every 35 cm. The design simply repeats continuously along the length of the tape, creating a seamless appearance.

Can I customise the tape width or length?

Design Assistance & Mock-Ups

Can you help me design my packaging?

Yes. All custom packaging orders include free design assistance. We provide digital mock-ups before production and can also help recreate low-quality artwork, adjust designs for print, suggest logo placements, and create multiple design variations for approval before production.

Will I receive a mock-up before production?

Yes. A digital mock-up is provided for approval before production begins.

What file formats do you accept?

Recommended formats: AI, PDF, EPS, SVG, CDR, and PSD

High-resolution PNG and JPG files are also accepted.
